Goodwill SOLAC was founded in 1929 and since then we have collected and resold donated clothing and household goods to fund programs and services designed to help people with barriers to employment achieve economic and personal independence. People like John, who transitioned off welfare; Mary, who was once a displaced homemaker needing new skills to re-enter the workforce; or Simone, who lived on the streets and spent time in jail. All are now working thanks to your donations which have funded Goodwill’s education and training programs.
In fact, the majority of our revenue comes from the sale of donated goods at our stores located throughout communities in Southern Los Angeles County. Goodwill stores are not only our major source of funding, but also provide jobs to those with little or no work experience, as they adjust to the demands of the workplace.
How Do I Donate?
Donations are critical to our ability to fulfill our mission. Every time you donate gently used clothing and household goods to Goodwill, you help change a person's life by giving him or her a chance to work, earn a paycheck and build a future. For every dollar spent in a Goodwill store, 86 cents is channeled into operations, job training and placement programs for people with barriers to employment.
Each of our stores is equipped to receive donations.* Additionally we have eight Attended Donation Centers where a friendly Goodwill staff member will assist you. We also have limited pick-up service. Call us at (562) 435-7741 for more information. Cars, RV's and boats are also accepted at our Long Beach – PCH location by appointment only.
We are happy to provide a receipt for your donations. For donation locations near you, click here.

What Happens to Your Donations?
When you donate to Goodwill, you have a direct impact on the lives of real people living in your community. Your donations are sorted, priced and sold at one of our 16 retail locations, at our Last Chance Outlet, or through shopgoodwill.com. For items deemed unsalable in our stores, we have found other avenues to make your donation count. For example, clothing scraps are recycled into cleaning cloths sold to industrial buyers, and other items are sold to salvage brokers, relieving our overburdened landfills.
